Products, components and materials covered under NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 have been investigated for compliance with the following:
- California Health and Safety Code, Section 116875, “Lead Materials”
- Vermont Act No. 193, “Lead in Consumer Products Law”
- Maryland House Bill 372, “Business Occupations and Professions – Plumbers – Lead-Free Materials”
- Safe Drinking Water Act Amendment, “Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act”
NOTE: International Valve has obtained Underwriters Laboratories (UL) certification to NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 and NSF/ANSI/CAN372 using the materials of construction listed in the above chart. Our facility, located in Sugar Grove, Illinois, is where every Vent-Tech valve is engineered, machined, fabricated, coated, assembled, finished, tested, and packaged. For projects where alternative materials are specified, such as cast iron, ductile cast iron, carbon steel, or epoxy coatings consideration should be given to offering Stainless Steel material substitutions which are certified to the NSF/ANSI/CAN standards.
NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 covers drinking water system products and materials including, but not limited to, barrier materials (coatings, liners, tanks, etc.), joining and sealing materials (gaskets, solvent cements, etc.), mechanical devices (valves, pumps, etc.), mechanical plumbing devices (faucets, aerators, etc.), pipes and related products (pipes, fittings, etc.), and process media (activated carbon, sand, etc.) that come into contact with drinking water or drinking water treatment chemicals in drinking water distribution systems. These components are intended to be installed and used in accordance with applicable plumbing codes.
NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 covers drinking water system products, including, but not limited to, components, materials and process media (activated carbon, sand, etc.) that come in contact with, convey or dispense water intended for human consumption by drinking or cooking. The investigation includes determination of compliance with design requirements with respect to lead (Pb), including a weighted average Pb content of not more than 0.25%, and testing of the required materials to verify the Pb content.
