Frequently Asked Questions
Find clear, concise answers to the most common questions about our valves, services, and certifications. Whether you’re an engineer, municipality, contractor, distributor, or mining company, our FAQ section is here to provide the information you need.
Why does International Valve offer so many valve models?
At International Valve, we design each valve model to target and achieve specific performance objectives that matter most to water and wastewater systems. Every project presents unique challenges, and our innovations ensure the right fit for your exact needs.
Our Vent-Tech valves are built around these five core reasons:
Improved Flow: Enhancing air flow and system efficiency to support reliable pipeline operations.
Lower Sealing Pressure: Ensuring dependable performance even in challenging conditions by reducing the pressure required to seal.
Reduced Height: Providing compact valve options for installations where vertical space is limited.
Reduced Weight: Simplifying handling and installation while maintaining strength and durability.
Better Handling of F.O.G. (Fats, Oils, and Grease): Delivering performance you can trust, even in tough wastewater environments.
By offering multiple models, we ensure you have the perfect solution to meet your project’s specifications and deliver exceptional results. Our commitment to innovation and customer-focused design guarantees the right fit for every challenge.
What makes Vent-Tech™ valves different from standard air release valves?
Vent-Tech™ valves use advanced flat float technology and patented flow designs to deliver up to 40% greater vacuum venting capacity compared to traditional designs. This results in superior surge protection, lower energy consumption, and longer system life—especially in demanding sewer, water, and industrial environments.
Can International Valve products meet Buy America and AIS compliance requirements?
Yes. All International Valve products are manufactured in Sugar Grove, Illinois, and, when required by contract, fully comply with Build America/Buy America (BABAA) and American Iron and Steel (AIS) requirements. International Valve also tracks and controls raw material sourcing and can provide origin documentation upon request.
Are your valves tested and certified for potable water applications?
Yes. Our clean and raw water valves are NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 and NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 ensuring safe use in drinking water systems from source to tap and are in full compliance with federal quality and health standards (see here). Our Sugar Grove, IL facility has earned ISO 9001: 2015 certification (see here).
Can International Valve support our engineering team with design or spec guidance?
Absolutely. International Valve collaborates closely with engineers and contractors, offering detailed technical specs, CAD renderings, and consultative support to help specify the optimal valve solution for your project. Custom guidance is available to ensure performance, compliance, and cost-efficiency from design to installation.
Do your valves require regular maintenance?
All Vent-Tech™ valves are designed with durability and low-maintenance in mind. Using stainless steel construction (304SS or 316SS), UHMW-PE floats, and self-flushing geometries, they resist corrosion and bioaccumulation, extending operational life and reducing maintenance frequency.
How does International Valve support long-term project success beyond just supplying valves?
International Valve is more than a product provider—we’re a long-term partner in critical water infrastructure. From early design collaboration to on-call technical support, we work directly with engineers, municipalities, and contractors to ensure every solution is optimized for performance, compliance, and lifecycle value. Our commitment doesn’t stop at delivery—we’re here for the life of your system.
