Project Overview

The Willamette Water Supply Program (WWSP) is a regional infrastructure initiative delivering a new, resilient source of drinking water to support growth and reliability for western Oregon communities. The project includes a 30+ mile raw water pipeline, a new water intake on the Willamette River in Wilsonville, and a treatment plant near Sherwood. The large-diameter pipeline (48–66 inches) is designed to transport raw, untreated water to the treatment facility, ensuring a steady supply for decades to come. International Valve supplied high-performance Vent-Tech air release and vacuum relief valves—key components that protect pipeline integrity, optimize flow performance, and safeguard operations in the event of seismic activity.

Challenge Faced

The WWSP is located in a high seismic risk region, making infrastructure resilience a top priority. To meet these challenges, International Valve collaborated with project engineers to perform a detailed Site-Specific Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Analysis. Valve systems had to be engineered not only for efficiency and durability but also to perform reliably during and after a seismic event.

3

Solution Provided

International Valve delivered custom-engineered Vent-Tech valves with precise specifications, factoring in pressure range, surge mitigation, air flow efficiency, and seismic resilience. All valves were manufactured in the U.S. under strict quality control standards and tailored to meet the operational goals and environmental demands of this high-profile project.

Results and Outcomes

Seismic Resilience

Vent-Tech valves were specified and engineered with seismic risk in mind—ensuring performance and durability during extreme conditions.

Strategic System Protection

By enabling controlled air management, the valves play a key role in preventing pipeline stress, surges, and damage during flow disruptions.

Long-Term Reliability

The valves contribute to a pipeline designed to remain operational for decades, minimizing maintenance and maximizing lifecycle value.

Local Manufacturing & Support

Valves were proudly engineered, tested, and manufactured in the U.S., supporting domestic production while ensuring high-speed delivery and quality assurance.

5

Conclusion

International Valve’s role in the Willamette Water Supply Program highlights its leadership in advanced valve engineering and infrastructure resilience. With seismic-ready design, expert collaboration, and industry-leading reliability, our valves continue to support mission-critical projects that serve millions—today and into the future.
